Sheridan Smith was born on 25th June 1981 and grew up in Epworth, Yorkshire/Lincolnshire. While Sheridan was growing up her parents Colin and Marilyn, performed as a Country and Western duo called The Daltons and it wasn't long before Sheridan got into it. She was dancing from the age of 4 and singing with her parents when she was about 7. At 14 she made her profesional debut in the production of Annie playing the lead role. She then went on to star in many big stage roles such as: The Go-Between, Little Red Riding Hood in the 1998 Donmar Warehouse production of Into The Woods, Talullah in National Youth Theatre's production of Bugsy Malone, Doll the Moll in Tin Pan Ali, Mrs Hardcastle in The Kissing Dance or She Stoops To Conquer, Pendragon and Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz.
Sheridan appeared on Blue Peter, Newsround, Children in Need, Olivier Awards and Theatreland with the NYMT (National Youth Music Theatre) for which she was a member.
Sheridan's first TV appearance came in 1999 when she played Matilda in ITV's Dark Ages. Since then Sheridan as had many guest appearances in Wives and Daughters, Anchor Me, Peaches, Hawk, Heartbeat, Doctors, Where The Heart Is, Holby City, Blood Strangers, Fat Friends, The Royal, Mile High and more recently in The Bill on 2nd June 2005.
But Sheridan will be more well known for her roles in The Royle Family from 1999-2000 were she played Emma Anthony Royle's (Ralf Little) girlfriend in the BBC Comedy written by Caroline Adherne. And more obviously in Two Pints of Lager again playing Ralf's girlfriend. This time has Janet who lives contentedly with Jonny and can usually be found at home on the sofa picking her feet or in the pub talking rubbish with Donna. Sheridan has also starred in two series of the BBC comedy Eyes Down alongside Paul O'Grady.
2005 as been a busy one for Sheridan starting the year off filming the end of series five of Two Pints. She then went on to film her guest appearance in The Bill and filmed a six-part comedy drama called Love Soup. And if that wasn't enough after fitting in a weeks holiday to Crete Sheridan filmed a new comedy for BBC3 called Grownups. Sheridan plays the lead role in the comedy about the life of 26 year old Michelle. Sheridan finished off the year filming series 6 of Two Pints which carried on into March 2006.
Sheridan concentrated on her Theatre and Radio work in 2006. Sheridan performed amazingly in Shakespearean plays A Midsummer Nights Dream and Taming of the Shrew at the Open Air Theatre in Londons Regents Park through the summer. In between she took time out to record a radio comedy called Not Today Thank you and voiced Lucie, Doctor Who's side kick in the Radio version of the sci fi. Sheridan then focused on playing a dream role, Audrey in The Little Shop of Horrors from November 2006 - Septemer 2007.
Sheridan also filmed a second series of Love Soup and Grownups during her time as Audrey. After enjoying a well earned break Sheridan began filming of Series 7 of Two Pints of Lager and also starred in series two of BBC Three Comedy Gavin and Stacey.
In 2008 Sheridan filming a pilot for BBC1 remake Bewitched in which she plays leading lady Samantha. It is still undecided on whether this will be made into a series. Also in 2008 Sheridan appeared in another series of Two Pints and Grownups. We also saw her as the new companion for Jonathan Creek in the Christmas Special. Sheridan also had appearances in Gavin and Stacey and Lark Rise to Candleford.
2009 continues with another busy year for Sheridan. We hear her continue her success with a third year as Lucie in the Radio version of Doctor Who. This year Sheridan has been filming more Two Pints, Gavin and Stacey, Benidorm and Jonathan Creek.
From December 2009 we will get to see Sheridan play Elle Woods the lead in the Musical version of the film Legally Blonde which will make its West End Debut.
Sheridan's brother Damien is a member of the band The Torn. Sheridan currently lives in London with flatmate Jason. Sheridan has 4 dogs.
